5th graders missed their reading buddies over Christmas break. It was great to see how excited they were to see each other and share some books.

1st graders like to show off their great reading skills for the big kids.
Partners often take turns reading.
Reading buddies is a favorite time of the week for our 5th graders.
Sometimes being a good reading buddy means listening to someone else read.
5th grade was treated to a performance by the 6th and 7th grade bands on January 27th. Both bands did a fantastic job. The students favorite song was, of course, Go Big Blue!

5th graders listened intently to the 6th and 7th grade band concerts. hopefully next year we will get to see a lot of them performing with the band.
Hard to tell if preschool or 5th grade was better behaved during the 6th and 7th grade band performance.
Both bands did a great job!
Brain breaks are a great way to add some movement in upper elementary grades so that students can get the wiggles out and focus on their assignments.

5th graders take a brain break to help them find their focus.
The winter blues have set in so we take frequent breaks to get our blood moving.
Our brain break activities give students choices that lead to assorted exercises.

Mrs. Edwards class had a great last day before Christmas break. We played games (I got whipped at UNO), ate snacks, and watched a Christmas movie. It was rainy and wet outside but we were having a blast inside.

This i s what 5th graders look like when they are beating the teacher at UNO.
We had time to spend with friends during our party today.
I was so happy to see students off of their chrome books and playing board games and card games.
Educational games are more fun together.

Hurry to the next item.
After some hard working shopping for perfect gifts on a tight budget, the students deserved a break to eat lunch. We stopped at Ocean's Buffet. This was a new experience for some students, but we made them eat real food before dessert.
