The Plato Eagles baseball team had a great day in the cages today! A huge thanks to Kokomo Joes in Rolla and Kim and Landon Johnson for setting it up! It was a great team building day that also may help the team get hits this week.

Mrs. Metzler's accounting students got the opportunity to look through a book that was gifted to her from a retired accounting professor on double entry accounting from 1893. The moral of the story was that accounting is a language and although in the last 129 years accounting has technologically evolved, the language is still the same!

Bolivar is one of the year's cross country meets that has an open run. Several elementary Eagles traveled with the HS & MS Cross Country team and showed just as much grit, spirit, and determination as the middle school and high school runners. #platorv

Over the summer, our weight room floor was redone with DuroMat Safety Tiles that consumed 5,400 lbs of 100% Missouri Scrap Tires - the equivalent of 270 passenger tires. This flooring was made possible by a grant we received from the MO Dept of Natural Resources.

🛞 Recycling rubber tires means that millions of scrap tires are no longer dumped in landfills, or left illegally in lakes, abandoned lots, along the side of the road and in sensitive habitats. Instead, more than 90 percent of these tires are being recycled and reused annually.
🚙 Recycling saves impressive amounts of energy, which ultimately reduces greenhouse gas emissions. For example, recycling four tires reduces CO2 by about 323 pounds, which is equivalent to 18 gallons of gasoline.
🛞 Using recycled rubber in molded products, for example, creates a substantially smaller (by a factor of up to 20 times) carbon footprint as compared to using virgin plastic resins.

In Biology, students worked in groups on a gummy bear experiment to work hands on with the scientific method. Next the class will discuss the qualitative and quantitative aspects of the experiment. #platorv
